Unitas Building integrated Photovoltaic

The new building integrated photovoltaic system designed for Zürcher Ziegeleien: Aesthetics at the highest level, as easy to install as a roof tile.

The new Unitas photovoltaic module is easy to integrate into a tiled roof - functionally, visually and in terms of installation.

We designed the new photovoltaic system so that no additional expertise in solar technology is needed for installation. This means that any roofer is able to install the system - regardless of whether it is a new construction or a retrofit.

Seamless Integration

The solar elements are designed to match the grid, dimensions and aesthetics of existing tiles in the ZZ range. Combined with the flexible coverage length, the system can also be easily integrated into existing roofs.

Sustainability not only in use

Sustainability and recyclability have strongly influenced the design as key aspects: glass-glass panels are used; they retain their efficiency for longer and are more robust compared to the glass-foil type.

The modules are completely free of adhesives and designed to be easily disassembled and reused (design for disassembly); the frame is made of aluminium monomaterial with a proportion of recycled material.

With mockups we tested the glue-free assembly

Tests in the laboratory confirmed the waterproofness

To ensure that the modules also meet the high aesthetic requirements, the colour and shape have also been precisely matched to the existing products in the ZZ range

The installation of the modules was tested on our sample roof with ZZ's application technology

We attended the installation of the first modules

The result is very positive - installation was quick, easy and a perfect fit
