Feller Snapfix®
Well-established Swiss company Feller AG was looking to update and improve its mounting system for electrical function inserts. The historically grown, complex range of alignment-specific mounting plates should become more flexible.
Instead of 4 different screw patterns, the goal was to mount the electrical function inserts from the front without tools.
With this briefing, we developed a concept that allowed Feller AG to successfully develop SNAPFIX®.
We used context of use analyses to gain an understanding of the way electricians work and what they need during installation.
The conventional system consists of 92 mounting plates, a good 400 functional inserts and over 100 junction boxes. With a prioritised selection of 38 functional inserts and 14 inlet boxes, the possibilities and limitations were analysed.
In an extremely restricted installation space, we developed concepts for simple yet secure mounting. Mock-ups were used to test the handling and provide proof of function.
The new concept was not only able to fulfil all requirements, it also reached a new level in terms of handling. It served as the basis for further development at Feller AG.
