Degrader - Tribecraft

In tumor therapy, PSI has been breaking new ground with the Proscan project for years. A new proton beam system is currently in construction.

Because the accelerator for fine regulation of the proton energy is too slow, graphite wedges are pushed into the beam (red). Our concept for this task uses 1/3 the amount of graphite, thus considerably reducing the amount of contaminated material to be disposed of. The unit can be exchanged within 30 minutes — specified were 4 hours.
